2024 has been another good year as we have stayed true to our vision of “empowering young people for future relevance”.
Activities
Youth Empowered with Education and Life Skills (YEELS) project
This year saw the enrolment of 23 new students into Junior and Senior Secondary school. Six students graduated from Junior Secondary and moved into Senior Secondary while, two students finished from Primary School and moved into Junior Secondary. This brings the total number of students currently enrolled to 28 students.
The empowerment academy component of the project also kicked off in November with a session on Identity. It was well attended ad well received by the students. The aim of the empowerment academy is to provide the students with a monthly mindset renewing engagement that enables them to build self-awareness, self-esteem, life skills and tools for life planning. The robust curriculum covers topics such as identity, gratitude, volunteering, planning, money management, work ethics, charity and the growth mindset among others. The empowerment academy also supports students with literacy gaps to cover the gap
Raising Timothy Project
Raising Timothy Family Conference held on the 28th of September with the theme “Teach them to obey”. The conference was hosted online and participants joined in from across the world.
Teens Gap-year Discipleship and Leadership programme (TGDLP)
We ran the first cohort of the Teens Gap-year Discipleship and Leadership programme (TGDLP) between and 22nd December, 2024. It was borne out of a vision to support secondary school graduates to acquire important life skills before heading deep into tertiary education. We had 14 participants in total and six weeks of intensive mentoring sessions made possible by our incredible facilitators. The sessions included topics around faith-building, soft skills, relationships, financial management and contemporary issues and were designed to make them people of kingdom and contemporary relevance within and outside the university. The feedback from participants showed that many of them have acquired new knowledge and made life changing decisions as a result of the engagement. We look forward to the second cohort in 2025.
The Organisation
Management
Since 2019 WIH has maintained its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission Nigeria and the Federal Inland Revenue Service. Our annual returns can be viewed at https://www.wisdomimpact.org/about-us/finances/ . We continue to maintain a simple financial profile for the meantime while we develop a strong management an team structure.
The New Team Members
WIH has enjoyed the favour of committed volunteers over the years and this r=year was no different. We had three team members suppoting the work and moving us ever closer to meeting our goals.
Ms Helen Tyokase (Project Officer) supports the implementation of the YEELS project. She ensures all enrolled students are attending school and looks after the entire enrolment process year on year.
Adetumise Fasiku (Communications Officer) is the brain behind our communications and brand identity. Adetumise was instrumental to our brand updates this year which was a really blessing.
Tunci Egbunu (Programme Manager) supports project planning and implementation for the organisation. She championed the successful roll out of the Teens Gap-year Discipleship and Leadership programme. She oversees the strategic management of all WIH projects.
Brand update
In the course of the year, we were able to refresh the brand identity with a new logo design courtesy of our communications volunteer. The new logo heralds a refreshed vigour to pursue the goals of the organisation and a renewed vision to achieve more.

Funding
Another roller coaster of a year but we can look back with a sense of accomplishment that we did not leave anyone behind. We were able to sustain all enrolled students is school and with the support of partners, we were able to provide enrolment support to 18 new students to enter JSS1 (13) and SS1 (5). The new enrolments particularly warmed our hearts as this is the heart of the WIH vision – to ensure every young person has the opportunity to acquire the skills needed for a productive life.
As an organisation we are beginning to mature and stabilize and are now looking to pursue grant opportunities from donor organisations. We are currently putting together an application for the GEF small grants programme in Nigeria and we are hope for success. This opportunity will enable us reach more young people with economic skills and knowledge.
